The below gif is a visual representation of me getting into a new hobby. After Reading/commenting on !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I decided to take a deeper look into customizing hot wheels. I was aware that people do it but I never looked into the how...annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd all of my new tools, paints, clips etc. arrive this week, haha.

Kinja'd!!!

I stick with most hobbies long term or at least come back to them. However I have recently given up on one that requires the same sort of “footprint” as modeling . I bought all of the stuff to reload my own ammunition, did it a few times, then decided I don’t shoot nearly enough to warrant reloading.

I just recently dissembled my reloading bench and gave away anything that should not be stored (powder, primers, cleaning solutions). All I have to do now is box up the rest and put it in storage. Then I’m ready to ring in a new hobby!

Get ready for more photos of OCD levels of organization.

If anyone has any suggestions as to tools/resources, I’m all ears. I found the site below that covers a lot.

!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

I have ordered the following tools:

Jeweler’s Hacksaw
Paint clips
Small bench vise
Soldering stand (clips and an LED magnifying glass)
Rattle cans of BMW Phoenix Yellow and BMW Jade Green

That is exactly how my dog tries to catch squirrels when they're already half way up a tree

I've felt the same way about reloading.  I have a number of friends who are pretty serious about it, but you really have to either shoot a ton and/or really have a use case for developing custom loads.  Otherwise practice ammo is cheap if you're shooting anything common.

I started reloading handgun rounds in college with a little handloader when ammo prices w ent nuts due to the Obama scare. I have one friend who has invested a serious amount of money in Dillion Precision loading equipment. He was a Marine sniper and is into long range precision shooting , so I’m guessing is saves him money over buying match ammo. Plus he’s a bit of a weirdo.

I’ve been lost in this hole!
I usually disllike the verbose colours of most hotwheels/matchbox cars, and paint them to tone down.

same with wheels, usually swap those to make a more realistic representation .

but once you start modding....

These flush cutters are great for cutting the little chassis nubs that hold axles in place.

I have a pair of these in EVERY tool bag. Flush cuts are one of my favorite tools! Thanks

Yeah...I’m headed out at lunch to buy some that I don’t care about to hack apart!

I’m preparing to load 16GA and 12GA brass hulls with black powder substitute and black powder and with old fashioned fiber wads* . At which time, having black powder on hand, I will start reloading my own .45LC in black powder.

Leave me alone I know what I’m doing.

*I have a 16GA auto five that detests modern length hulls, an antique coach I don’t trust for smokeless, and brass hulls go “ping”.

That makes sense to me. You can go deep down the rabbit hole of custom loads optimized for one specific  rifle for long-range precision shooting at a really high level.

Nice! Glad to help :)

I need to either get back on the diecast customizing horse, or get rid of the stuff.  I haven’t completed one in a few years.

Welcome to the hobby. I recommend needle files and tiny paint brushes

Kinja'd!!!

Files came from hobby lobby. Brush from Michael’s. Check out this pipe I made last week.

Welcome! It’s a super fun hobby to get into. I recommend a cheap airbrush. Buying rattle cans can get pricey over time.  That site is great starting point. Insta has some fantastic modders, especially out of Asia.
